It was a hot one on Wednesday, and around a dozen Alberta communities hit new daily heat records — including Nordegg.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), the Nordegg area set a new record high for Aug. 27, with the temperature reaching 29.7 degrees Celsius, beating the old record of 28.5 degrees Celsius set in 2017.
Records in the Nordegg area have been kept since 1915.
Other communities such as Wainwright, Jasper and Athabasca also broke daily records.
Notably, the Edmonton capital region sizzled under 33 degree heat, breaking an Aug. 27 record from 1934.
