RCMP are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision east of Rocky Mountain House.

Early on Sept. 4, Rocky Mountain House RCMP were making patrols when they came across a serious two-vehicle collision involving a RAV 4 and a semi truck on Hwy 11 at Range Road 6-0 (Beaver Flats Rd.)

The driver of the SUV, a 22-year-old Rocky Mountain House resident, was located outside of the vehicle, deceased. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.

RCMP remained on scene for several hours investigating. Initial investigation reveals that the SUV entered oncoming traffic when it was struck by the semi.

RCMP offers its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Following the collision, Hwy 11 was closed at the scene for several hours, with traffic being rerouted in both directions. The scene was cleared shortly after 7 a.m.
