BANTAMS
~ By Dallas Stradecki, trainer for Bantam Jr Rebels
The Bantam Jr. Rebels season opener, Saturday Night Football under the lights, hosted the Ponoka Broncs at Curtis Field.
Coming out strong and looking for a game one win, the 1st half was taken by the Rebels with an 18-13 lead, with three touchdowns thrown by QB Grayson Nichol to Gabriel Rogers, Charlie Molnar and Issac Gorgichuk.
The second half was continued to be played strong by the Rebels with another touchdown ran in by Issac Gorgichuk.
All of your Bantam Jr. Rebels demonstrated heart and their love of the game. Unfortunately, some difficult injuries also played as another opponent on the field to overcome.
Ultimately the Rebels fell to the Broncs with a final score of 39-28.
The Rebels will rest up and regroup and be back in action for another home game for our Rocky Football Day, September 20th against Lacombe with an 11am kickoff.
Come on out and support your Bantam Jr. Rebels!

The Peewee Rebels delivered exactly what was needed in a must-win matchup this week, turning in a near-perfect performance on offense, defense, and special teams.
Discipline set the tone for the game. After committing 11 penalties in their previous game, the Rebels cut that number to just four, showcasing focus and composure throughout the contest.
From the opening whistle to the final snap, the team’s effort never wavered, culminating in a commanding 64–0 victory vs the Ponoka Broncs that reflected their determination and preparation. Rookies and first-year players made a strong impression as well, proving they belong on the field and earning praise from the coaching staff.
The Rebels now shift their attention to another pivotal challenge: a matchup against Lacombe next week in Rocky, with kickoff scheduled for 12:30 p.m. The team is committed to another intense week of practice to keep their winning momentum alive.

On Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, the Rocky Jr. Rebels Atoms welcomed teams from Innisfail and Sylvan Lake for their first official home game at Curtis Field. The atmosphere was electric, with an enthusiastic crowd turning out to support the young Jr Rebels!
Both visiting squads proved to be formidable opponents, showcasing strong defensive coverage that limited Rocky’s passing game. While the Rebels found opportunities for some impressive runs, the coaching staff noted that the team fell short of the high level of play they have demonstrated in practice.
Despite the challenges, the players competed hard throughout the afternoon and gained valuable experience. Coaches are confident that another focused week of training will help the team reach its full potential.
The Jr. Rebels return to Curtis Field next weekend for matchups against Lacombe and Innisfail, with kickoff times set for 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Fans are encouraged to come out and cheer on the team as they continue on in their season.
