A fatal cycling accident near Nordegg has been confirmed by Alberta RCMP.

An RCMP statement says, on Sept. 21, 2025 at 12:41 p.m., Rocky Mountain House RCMP received a report from EMS of a mountain bike accident at Black Mountain bike park in Clearwater County.

Upon arrival, the biker, a 54-year-old male was deceased.

Officials add, the death is not believed to be suspicious.

A social media post from Nordegg Offroad Cycling Association (NORCA) acknowledged the accident, which reads in part:

“We are deeply saddened to acknowledge a serious incident that took place on the Black Mountain trail network on September 21. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this tragic event.”

The post adds, details surrounding the incident are still being investigated, and urges residents to get information from reputable sources.
