The Rocky Rams will be looking to get into the win column when they welcome the Ponoka Stampeders to the Rocky Arena Sept. 26.
Last weekend, the team was faced with an uphill climb to kick off the regular season, facing off against defending HJHL champs, the Sylvan Lake Wranglers.
“We came out a little flat, made a couple really simple mistakes, and they capitalized,” said coach Cody McLellan. “It put us in a hole early — but we didn’t give up, our group got better as the game went on.”
Ultimately, the Rams fell 6-3 to Sylvan Lake.
Goal scorers include defenseman Teegan Mudryk, and former Wrangler Ty Gyori, who found the net twice.
In preparation for the game against Ponoka, McLellan says it’s a meat and potatoes focus for the team.
“If our group gives us a consistent effort, I think good things will happen.”
Puck drop is Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. at the Rocky Arena.
