The Rocky Rams dropped a pair of games to hot teams over the weekend to fall to 7-12-1 on the season.
Friday Nov. 21 @ Sylvan Lake Wranglers
The visiting Rocky Rams got the scoring underway near the halfway point of the first period, with former Wrangler Ty Gyori getting it started with his league-leading 17th marker of the season.
Gyori also leads the HJHL in points with 39.
Unfortunately for the Rams, Sylvan Lake responded with an onslaught of offence scoring five unanswered goals stretching into the second period.
Tyler Hanson found the back of the net on the powerplay in the second, but time would ultimately expire with the Wranglers leading 8-2
The Wranglers are tied with Red Deer for first place in the HJHL’s north division.
Sunday Nov. 23 vs. Coaldale Copperheads
The team returned home on Sunday for the second and final meeting with the Coaldale Copperheads at the Rocky Arena Complex.
The Rams’ opponents scored four unanswered goals and effectively limited Rocky’s offensive chances throughout much of the game.
Cody Wells scored the Rams’ lone goal on a penalty shot near the end of the game.
Final score 4-1 Coaldale.
The Copperheads are in a tight race with Medicine Hat and the Wheatland Kings for top spot in the HJHL’s south division.
Next up: Friday Nov. 28 @ High River Flyers
The Rams will take their 7-12-1 record down south to visit the High River Flyers on Friday Nov. 28.
The Flyers are coming off a 12-1 drubbing to the south division-leading Wheatland Kings on Nov. 22.
Rocky Rams next home game is Saturday Dec. 12 vs. Red Deer.
