It was a tough Friday night for the Rocky Rams down at the Bob Snodgrass Arena, as a would-be comeback fell just short in a 5-4 losing effort to the High River Flyers.
The team quickly found themselves down after the Flyers scored four unanswered goals in the first period.
Rams’ forward Cody Wells scored a buzzer beater at 19:44 to end the first frame 4-1.
The Flyers’ Ethan Burgeson scored in the second to give High River a 5-1 lead.
Slowly but surely, the Rams began clawing back with goals from Ryan Strangeland, Bret Hymers, and Tyler Hanson to bring the team to within one.
However, the Rams were denied the equalizer during the next nine minutes of play.
Final score: 5-4 High River.
With the loss, the Rams fall to 7-13-1 — fifth in the HJHL’s north division.
