The Rocky Rams kicked off the new year with a 9-3 blowout loss to the Mountain View Colts in Didsbury.
Despite the Rams jumping out to an early lead on a first period goal from Keagan Landry, it was all Colts from that point on.
The Colts scored five unanswered goals in the second period before Rams forward Ethan Wyzykoski stopped the bleeding to end 40 minutes of play down 7-2.
Graedy Landry got the Rams on the board to kick off the third period. However, Colts forward Tristan Visser scored two goals — one on the powerplay and another short handed — to seal the victory for the Colts.
Rams fall to 9-18-1 on the season.
Next up: home stand
After spending time on the road at the start of 2026, the Rams are set to settle into a home stand.
The team will face the Cannex Cochrane Generals on Friday Jan. 9 at the Rocky Arena. It’s the second meeting of the teams this season, as Cochrane won 7-2 against the Rams Oct. 24.
Game time is 8:30 p.m.
The Rams will then gear up for a Saturday night tilt against the High River Flyers at the Rocky Arena.
It will also be the second meeting of the season with High River, as the Flyers staved off a Rams comeback effort with a narrow 4-3 win on Nov. 28.
Game time 7:30 p.m..
