A number of tickets were handed out but no DUI’s during a local checkstop conducted by Rocky Mountain House RCMP last week.
During the checkstop held on June 24, 2022, local Mounties pulled over 100 vehicles in an hour and a half and conducted 75 roadside screenings, which saw everyone pass. However, eight tickets were handed out for other various reasons.
Staff Sergeant Carl Dinsdale said, “The RCMP in Rocky plan to be doing more checkstops, especially during the busy summer months.”
During the checkstop, officers also came across an individual who had a warrant.
Dinsdale said there was also one criminal code case of flight, which saw a vehicle speed past the checkstop. Dinsdale added, officers did not pursue the vehicle, but acknowledged the matter is under investigation.
