The Rocky community has stepped up in a big way ahead of the first Coldest Night of the Year, Feb. 28 — but organizers are hoping volunteers can help make the event a complete success.
Volunteers are being sought to help out with registration at the Rocky Legion, as well as to help with serving food, road crossing, and at rest stops for participants.
Those who would like to volunteer can contact the Mountain Rose Women’s Shelter (MRWSA) at 403-845-5339.

The inaugural walk in support of MRWSA is shaping up to be a big success, says volunteer coordinator Lindsay Hunt, as dozens of participants have signed up on five different teams.
Additionally, as of Feb. 4, Hunt says corporate and private donations have already totaled over $5,000 with several weeks of fundraising still to come.
According to the Coldest Night of the Year website, Rocky has set a goal of $20,000, meaning around 25 per cent has been secured.
Hunt adds, there is still time to get a team together and sign up.
The walk is set for Saturday Feb. 28 from 4-7 p.m. It will start and finish at the Rocky Legion.
