Residents are invited to take in an evening of live music at the upcoming Spring Fling Jazz Show at West Central High School.
West Central band teacher Candace Marshall says jazz students from both West Central High School and Pioneer Middle School will come together for a night of performances.
The event will also feature a silent auction, door prizes and raffles in support of the schools’ band programs.
Marshall adds, the students will be performing a number of familiar songs including the Mission:Impossible theme song, along with a few more eclectic numbers including My Funny Valentine, and songs from a radio show called Birdland.
She adds, proceeds from the show goes to the Band Parents Association which provides students with opportunities like attending school trips and clinics with professional musicians, among other initiatives.
It also goes toward the Band Parents’ mandate to support students participating in band, no matter their family’s financial situation.
“This is an opportunity for the community to show how lucky we are to be in Rocky Mountain House, and the students are really benefitting from the community’s generosity,” she says.
The show begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 20, at West Central High School.
Tickets are $20 and include beverages and a dessert bar. They are available at the school office.
Later in the year, the students’ annual year-end showcase is once again planned for early June at West Central.
