Rising inflation has caused the Lord’s Food Bank in Rocky Mountain House to see more people coming through their door.
David Carter, Executive Director for the Lord’s Food Bank, says they’ve had a lot of new people coming for assistance.
“A lot of people that thought they’d never have to use a food bank are now having to call and make an appointment, which is not easy for people to do,” says Carter.
He says they are seeing a lot of people who have told him their kids aren’t able to eat their favorite snacks, noting one person shared that they bought their normal amount of groceries but had to put half of them back because the total was more than they had in their bank account.
Carter says a lot of people coming through their door are looking for food for their children.
He stressed a need for fruit, vegetables, fruit cups, fruit snacks and cereal at The Lord’s Food Bank.
Carter says the food bank is doing what it can to help local residents in-need, acknowledging if your bills are getting too high, to not hesitate to call them. Carted says there is no shame in reaching out.
The Lord’s Food Bank has also started a new imitative called Little Red Pantries, which offers local residents the chance to drop off food or even pick some up to take home. There is currently one outside The Lord’s Food Bank.
If you are in need of food, or are looking to donate, you can head to The Lord’s Food Bank at, 4923 52 St, or by calling 403-845-7546.
