Officials say a wildfire near Nordegg has almost doubled in size and remains out of control.
The wildfire discovered July 19, about 19km west of Nordegg, grew at its northwest corner on Thursday, reaching 366.5 hectares, almost doubling in size from 200 hectares on Wednesday.
Alberta Wildfire says air tankers and helicopters will continue to work on the wildfire from the air on Friday, in addition to more wildland firefighters. Two pieces of heavy equipment will start building a guard for a fire perimeter. Alberta Wildfire is hoping lower temperatures and higher humidity values forecast today should be more favourable for fighting the blaze.
The evacuation orders and alerts issued by Clearwater County remain in place.
