The Town of Rocky Mountain House has once again been recognized for its outstanding financial reporting.
For the sixth year in a row, the town has earned the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
The recognition stems from the town’s 2024 financial report, which was submitted in summer 2025.
While every municipality is required to report on their finances, Laura Button, communications coordinator with the town says the GFOA recognizes communities that set the bar higher.
In the case of Rocky, the report was recognized for its clarity, accessibility and newer innovations such as a “community update” that linked spending with council’s priorities for the public to see.
Button says residents can be proud to know that their community is above average when it comes to financial reporting.
While the award was for a year that ended many months ago, Button adds the 2025 and 2026 budgets were built on the same foundation which earned the award.
In Budget 2026, the town’s total operating budget was approved at nearly $29.8 million, while the capital budget is $5.4 million.
