A four-week jury trial has begun for two men charged in connection with a deadly roadside shooting in 2024.
Arthur Wayne Penner, 37, of Edmonton, and Elijah Blake Strawberry, 29, of O’Chiese First Nation, are each charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder.
The shooting happened Aug. 6, 2024, along a roadway in Rocky View County, east of Calgary.
One man, Colin Hough, 45, was killed. Another was seriously injured.
Police say that following tips from the public, the two accused were arrested on Sept. 13, 2024, at a home on O’Chiese First Nation.
In the week leading up to the arrests, investigators had focused their search for Strawberry in Red Deer, particularly in the Highland Green and Normandeau neighbourhoods.
