Registration is now open for the 2026 Walk for Hospice in Rocky Mountain House in support of the Compassionate Care Hospice Society.

This year’s event takes place Saturday, June 13, and features three-, five- and 10-kilometre walk, run or roll routes along Rocky Mountain House’s trail system.

Registration costs $30 for adults and $15 for youth, and includes a barbecue lunch following the event. A silent auction will also be held onsite.

Melissa Drake, marketing co-ordinator for the Compassionate Care Hospice Society, said about 80 people participated in the 2025 walk, with organizers hoping to attract 100 this year.

Last year’s event raised nearly $11,000 for hospice and bereavement care. Drake said the fundraising goal for 2026 is $10,000.

Participants are encouraged to dress in costume, with prizes awarded for best dressed and top fundraiser.

“We’re really looking forward to it. We love seeing the community come together,” Drake said, adding the walk is typically the organization’s largest fundraiser of the year.
