West Central High School’s grad class of 2026 is set to cross the stage at the school’s gym June 5.
A total of 113 grads are set to be part of this year’s class, supported by some 1,200 parents, grandparents, siblings, educators and dignitaries who will also be in attendance.
In keeping with a long-standing tradition, West Central doesn’t name a valedictorian, but instead, Kaedence Tait will be the class’s historian for 2026.
“Our historian will give a history of our class and memories together,” says West Central principal Meghan Brown, who adds Kaedence will also be sharing some wisdom as the students enter the next chapter of our lives.
The ceremony will also be attended by Mayor Shane Boniface and Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre MLA Jason Nixon.
Amy Lewsaw will deliver the salute from the parents. Soaring Hawk Circle, as well as a two-student performance, will be part of the celebration.
Brown recalls the class of 2026 for not only being an exceptionally hard working group, which also possessed a “wild” sense of humour.
“We’re really proud of this class, we’re going to miss them a lot,” says Brown.
