Four people, including two young children, were killed and several others injured in a serious two-vehicle collision west of Rocky Mountain House on Friday afternoon.
Rocky Mountain House RCMP said officers responded to reports of a collision on O’Chiese Road at approximately 4:33 p.m. on May 29.
Police said a Dodge Grand Caravan carrying three occupants was involved in the crash. The 74-year-old male driver and a 51-year-old male passenger, both residents of Rocky Mountain House, were declared dead at the scene.
The second vehicle, a Jeep Cherokee, was carrying three adults and two children. Two girls, ages five and six, both from O’Chiese First Nation, were also pronounced dead at the scene.
All other occupants involved in the collision were transported to hospital with injuries.
RCMP say the location of the crash was about five kilometers from the Buster Creek intersection.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Police said no further information is available at this time.
RCMP extended condolences to the families and friends of those who died.
