With the Battle of the Rockies now underway this weekend, it’s not only good for community members, it’s also a great chance to showcase Rocky’s local businesses.
That according to Michelle Meatheringham, Executive Director of the Rocky Chamber, who says large events like Battle of the Rockies present the local business community with increased opportunity for commerce.
“While driving teams bring most their rigging with them, they also bring families and fans to our region. As the races run later in the day, these visitors have time to explore the attractions and retail options that are available in and around town,” says Meatheringham.
Though the Chamber doesn’t have any specific numbers available in terms of economic impact, she notes an increase in traffic is very noticeable.
Meatheringham encourages local businesses to welcome visitors and show them what a great community Rocky is with a fantastic selection of services and products and to have fun at the races.
“It is incredible to see the many businesses, organizations and residents come together for this multi-day event. This combination of working together is an example of community collaboration which leads to successful events that have positive economic spin-off, now and in the future,” exclaims Meatheringham.
