A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the Rocky Mountain House and Crimson Lake areas.
Environment and Climate Change Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. The storms could produce strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
Residents are encouraged to stay alert and be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions.
Rain is expected throughout the weekend, with the heaviest precipitation forecast for Saturday. Total rainfall of 20 to 30 millimetres is possible.
