Heading into July, the wildfire danger in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area remains low.
According to Alberta Wildfire, recent widespread precipitation has reduced the overall wildfire risk. However, some areas received less moisture than others, and localized pockets of dry vegetation could still support fire activity.
Officials say continued caution is required. Anyone conducting open burning should do so responsibly and ensure all fires are completely extinguished before leaving the area.
Celebrate responsibly with fireworks
As Canada Day approaches, Alberta Wildfire is reminding residents and visitors to celebrate responsibly, especially when using fireworks.
The use of fireworks within the Forest Protection Area is prohibited year-round without written permission from a forest officer.
Anyone planning to use fireworks within the FPA must obtain a permit by requesting online or calling the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area office at (403) 845-8250.
