Night two of the World Chuckwagon Finals & Battle of the Rockies was run under a few clouds and very good racetrack conditions. Once again, a packed grandstand witnessed some outstanding racing, and when the sun set on the North Saskatchewan River Park in Rocky Mountain House, Obrey Motowylo took home the Kirk’s Trail Tire Wheels On Fire Fast Time of the Night.
Motowylo’s strong run keeps him atop the World Standings, while Jason Glass now sits first in the Kirk’s Trail Tire Series Playoff Standings and leads the overall aggregate for the Battle of the Rockies Championship.
A day-money run on opening night, combined with a third-place run Thursday night, has given Glass the lead in the Kirk’s Trail Tire Series Playoff round with 22 playoff points after two runs. He holds a one-point advantage over Motowylo, who sits alone in second place. Chanse Vigen is third, Jamie Laboucane is fourth, and Rae Croteau Jr. rounds out the top five.
The top four drivers in the playoff standings following Saturday night’s run will advance to Sunday afternoon’s Kirk’s Trail Tire Series Championship Final Heat. They will compete for a share of $28,000 in cash, a one-year lease on a GMC truck, and the prestige of being crowned the Kirk’s Trail Tire Series Champion.
On the night, Motowylo and his Topline Oilfield Hauling Ltd. outfit posted the fastest time of the evening with a 1:16.94 from barrel number one in heat nine. His time was 33 one-hundredths of a second faster than Croteau Jr., with Glass close behind in third. Evan Salmond and Wade Salmond completed the top five.
For the 36 drivers competing for the Battle of the Rockies Championship, defending champion Glass and his Birchcliff Energy Ltd. outfit lead the overall aggregate standings with a two-run combined time of 2:30.24. Glass holds a 51 one-hundredth-of-a-second advantage over Motowylo. Vigen, Croteau Jr., and Evan Salmond round out the top five after two nights of racing. The driver with the fastest four-day aggregate time following Saturday night’s run will be crowned the 2026 Battle of the Rockies Champion.
The World Chuckwagon Championship remains a tight race as well. Motowylo continues to lead the season standings, now by just 56 points over Glass, who has gained only one point on the defending World Champion over the first two days. The World Champion Chuckwagon Driver will be crowned Saturday night, with the title going to the driver who accumulates the most points over the course of the season.
