AltaLink is advising residents and businesses in Alberta that it will be performing aerial patrols of its electric transmission facilities throughout the province beginning next week.
From Aug. 24-28, AltaLink will use a helicopter to conduct an aerial patrol of its electrical transmission facilities in the area.
Among the communities that may see a helicopter in the area are Rocky Mountain House, Leslieville and other regions within Clearwater County.
The organization explained that the annual patrol provides AltaLink with a visual inspection of its transmission lines and surrounding vegetation, which helps maintain grid reliability.
“When conducting aerial surveys, AltaLink is mindful to minimize disruption to residences, area users, livestock and wildlife,” they wrote in a media release. “Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
The other communities that may also be involved include Airdrie, Balzac, Banff, Black Diamond, Canmore, Carstairs, Clearwater County, Cochrane, Crossfield, Didsbury, High River, Kananaskis, Lake Louise, Mountain View County, Okotoks and Red Deer County, and Sundre.
If you have any questions about the aerial patrols, call AltaLink at 1-877-267-1453.
