Goldeye Resort will receive $267,723 to fund improvements to its outdoor recreation amenities.

The funding, provided through the Alberta government’s 2026 Active Communities Initiative, will go toward upgrades to the climbing walls, ropes course, lake access amenities and outdoor lighting, as well as a revitalization of the field house.

A portion of the funding will also go toward enhancing safety, accessibility and year-round recreation opportunities.

Located just southwest of Nordegg, Goldeye Lake Mountain Resort features lakeside recreation amenities, a dining hall, indoor field house, outdoor playing field, beach volleyball court, hiking trails and an archery range.

The Goldeye upgrades are one of 20 sport and recreation projects across the province receiving a share of a $14-million Alberta government investment.

“I am proud to support active and healthy lifestyles for Albertan families through the Active Communities Initiative. These investments will enhance recreation opportunities and create lasting benefits for athletes of all ages across the province,” said Tourism and Sport Minister Andrew Boitchenko.

The province estimates the 20 projects will stimulate more than $46 million in economic activity across Alberta.
