Clearwater County is preparing to welcome cattle producers from across the region for its 23rd annual Cattlemen’s Day on Nov. 19 at the Caroline Community Hub.
The free event brings together local producers to network, learn from industry experts and discuss issues affecting the cattle industry.
Ag Services director Bettina van Nieuwkerk says the county is exited to be hosting the event once again this year.
“This event has been a long-standing tradition that brings together our region’s cattle producers to connect, learn and celebrate the industry that continues to be the backbone of our community,” van Nieuwkerk said.
This year’s program will feature four presentations covering cattle market trends, livestock technology, pasture health and beef production.
Brenna Grant of CanFax will provide an update on the current and future cattle market outlook, while Alberta producer Mike Hittinger will share his experience using GPS collars for livestock over the past couple of years.
Abby Redman of Blue Rock Animal Nutrition will discuss a recent pasture nutrient analysis study and provide updates on nitrates in feed.
Representatives from Gentech will also present strategies for improving beef cattle profitability through genomics.
A light lunch will be provided, giving attendees an opportunity to network and visit the trade fair booths.
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 19, with the event expected to wrap up between 3 and 4 p.m.
Producers are encouraged to register in advance through the Clearwater County website or by contacting the Agriculture and Community Services Department at 403-846-4040.
There is no cost to attend.
