This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of September 10-16
Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.
September 10
5:16 A.M. – Call of an individual discharging a firearm at a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Under investigation.
12:57 P.M. – White 2004 GMC Sierra stolen from a parking lot in Caroline. Vehicle recovered in Red Deer two days later, after it was reported abandoned.
3:42 P.M. – Black 2014 MITSUBISHI Lancer stolen from a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve
6:16 P.M. – Report of an assault which occurred at the RMH skate board park. Two youths were arrested and released. Charges are pending.
6:51 P.M. – Report of damage to equipment belonging to a contractor working on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve.
September 11
1:38 A.M. – Call of an assault in which a person was bear sprayed at a location in RMH. The suspect fled in an older blue VW Jetta. Police located the vehicle but terminated the pursuit due to safety reasons. Investigation is continuing.
8:29 A.M. – Report of the ignition damaged to a GMC Sierra pickup truck which had been broken into overnight.
9:46 A.M. – B&E reported to an oil & gas lease site in Clearwater County. Communication radios and a modem were stolen. Under investigation.
12:51 P.M. – Shoplifter reported at a RMH department/auto parts store. The suspect fled on foot when confronted by staff, leaving items scattered on the ground as he ran.
6:18 P.M. – EMS, Fire, and police responded to a collision between an ATV which pulled out in front of a pickup truck on SecHwy #591 @ 30 km west of Caroline. The ATV rider, a 25 year old male who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The RCMP Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene. The investigation is continuing.
September 12
3:16 A.M. – 911 call of a male suspect with a shotgun who stole a set of keys and damaged a vehicle belonging to a victim who was parked at a boat launch southwest of RMH. The suspect fled in another vehicle but was later located and arrested by police later that day. Shane Alexander BLAIR ( 20 years old ) from RMH has been charged with four Criminal Code offences which include Robbery with a firearm, mischief, breach of a probation order, and breach of a firearms prohibition order. After a Judicial Interim Release hearing, he was released on a $1000 cash bail Release Order and will appear in Provincial Court in October.
1:50 P.M. – Report of a licence plate stolen from a vehicle while parked at a location in RMH.
5:09 P.M. – Report of harassing communications from an individual who reported being blackmailed after going on a dating site on social media. The victim sent gift cards and photos to an unknown individual at an unknown location.
5:47 P.M. – Report of a vehicle rollover collision on Hwy #11, west of RMH. Police, EMS, and FIRE attended the scene. The driver had reached down to pick up a cell phone when she lost control and crashed into the trees along the highway. She was transported to a Red Deer hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
10:40 P.M. – Police recovered an abandoned stolen vehicle on the Sunchild Highway after it was reported stolen from Red Deer earlier in the day.
September 13
4:00 A.M. – 2019 black FORD Edge reported stolen from the Caroline Ambulance station
5:08 A.M. – Complaint of an assault on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Police attended and arrested an adult male. Charges are pending.
5:35 A.M. – Break & Enter reported to the Caroline meat store. The culprit(s) stole a ½ a pig and 10 boxes of packaging. Under investigation.
10:27 A.M. – Report of squatters with a bunch of garbage on private property in RMH. Police attended and the squatters agreed to leave.
11:24 A.M. – A red 2003 PONTIAC Grand Am was reported stolen from a residence in RMH. It was recovered in Lacombe three days later. Two adult females from Red Deer were arrested.
12:21 P.M. – Damage to and theft from a vehicle overnight while parked at a residence in RMH. Change, a first aid kit, and an iPhone charger were stolen.
13:13 P.M. – Report of a vehicle damaged with rocks at a residence in RMH.
2:07 P.M. – Theft of a TV and bedspread from a hotel in Caroline.
4:04 P.M. – Damage to vehicle while parked at a residence in Caroline.
September 14
1:20 A.M. – Report of an assault at a RMH convenience store. Police attended and arrested an adult male for assault. Charges are pending.
10:12 A.M. – Theft from an oilfield lease site in Clearwater County. A wiring panel was found opened and a modem valued at $500 was stolen.
10:19 A.M. – Theft from a motor vehicle while parked at a residence in RMH. A computer tablet was stolen along with change.
4:56 P.M. – Call of a dangerous driver in RMH who was driving at excessive speeds and squealing his tires in a subdivision where numerous kids were playing. The vehicle and adult male driver were located. He was arrested for “Dangerous Driving” and “Obstruction” as he refused to identify himself. He also was a suspended driver and thus the vehicle was seized for 30 days. The owner of the vehicle was advised of the seizure and tow bill.
6:46 P.M. – Report of damage to a residence on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve. Police attended and arrested the suspect. Charges are pending.
7:48 P.M. – Call of a suspicious male who was driving erratically in the Ferrier area. When the homeowner confronted the young adult male driver, the suspect rammed his truck and pointed a shotgun at him before fleeing with a female passenger in an older black flat-deck pickup truck with stacks. The matter is under investigation.
September 15
2:44 A.M. – Residential alarm received at a rural residence on Range Road 6-3 and Highway #11, Clearwater County. Upon arriving at the residence, the homeowner discovered gunshots through the front door and window. Two firearms were stolen from the residence along with subwoofers, an air compressor, pressure washer, a Honda generator, and other items. Under investigation.
5:19 A.M. – 911 call of a B&E & Theft from the Forestry yard in RMH. An ATV and two E-bikes, chainsaws, and other items were stolen. Under investigation.
9:53 A.M. – Break & Enter to a thrift store business in RMH. The back steel door was broken and a safe stolen.
8:36 P.M. – Complaint of Fraud after a RMH business owner sent thousands of dollars to someone claiming to be from the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center. A money wire-transfer had been sent to someone in Thailand. The real Canadian Anti-Fraud Center has been contacted.
September 16
9:02 P.M. – Report of an assault which occurred at a residence in RMH. An adult male was arrested. Charges pending.
