After starting the season with back-to-backs loses last week, the Rocky Rams were looking to bounce back after the weekend.
On Friday night the Rams played a home game against the Sylvan Lake Wranglers, which saw the Wrangles take care of business in a powerful 9-1 win over the Rams.
However, the Rams had a chance to redeem themselves after the loss on Friday.
On Saturday, the Rams would travel to Strathmore for a game against the Wheatland Kings.
The first period started off great for the Rams when Grady Mofford scored just 1:26 into the first period with the assists coming from Cale Stecyk and Bryn Hoiland. However, 17 seconds later the Wheatland Kings tied the game up, and would take the lead 13:05 into the first period after Kyle Provencher scored, giving the Kings a 2-1 lead heading into the second period.
The second period saw scoring opportunities for both teams but nobody would find the back of the net. The Kings, however, would outshot the Rams 13-9.
In the third period, the Rams would get outshot again 11-5 but would find the back of the net 8:28 into the period thanks to Reid Christiansen scoring, assisted by Tristan Hoffus which would be the lone goal sending the game to overtime tied at two after regulation.
Just 4:32 into overtime, the Rams would score off the only shot of the period which came from the stick of Cale Stecyk, Nick Jervis and Grady Mofford would get the assists.
After the weekend the Rams are now sitting with a record of 1-2-1, which puts them in fourth place in the Northern Division.
The Rams are back in action Friday, Sept. 30 at home against the Ponoka Stampeders with puck drop at 8:30 p.m..
