This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of September 17- 23
Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.
September 17
3:55 P.M. – RMH Crime Reduction Unit observed a suspicious green DODGE pickup truck in a parking lot plaza in RMH. The driver was recognized and arrested by police, as he was known to have an outstanding arrest warrant for breaching his probation order. The vehicle was towed after the investigation revealed that the door lock was damaged and the ignition was smashed. Also, the VIN #’s had been tampered with which indicated that the truck had been stolen. The driver was at large on two previous Release Orders which prohibited him from possessing weapons and from being in a motor vehicle. He also was supposed to abide by a 24 hr curfew. Michael Garth BLAIR (22 years old) has been charged with four counts of “Failing to Comply with a Release Order”, “Removing a VIN number”, and “Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000.” He has been remanded into custody.
11:48 P.M. – Complaint of road hunters after hours on Hwy #11 & # 11A. The suspicious vehicle was not located.
September 18
5:15 P.M. – The RMH Crime Reduction Unit stopped a suspicious vehicle with a mismatched licence plate. The VIN plate was tampered with and the vehicle did not have insurance or proper Bill of Sale. Under investigation.
7:16 P.M. – Call of a smashed window at a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve.
September 19
2:42 A.M. – The RMH Crime Reduction Unit stopped a suspicious vehicle and arrested a male passenger after it was determined that he was lying about his identity to conceal that he had outstanding warrants for his arrest. Anthony James DECK (27 years old) has been charged with “Obstruction of a Police Officer” in addition to the charges stemming from an incident on April 23, 2021. He was release on $5 cash bail along with a $3,000 Promise To Pay Release Order and must abide by numerous conditions. He will appear in Provincial Court in October.
2:45 A.M. – Call of five unknown males who had shown up at a wedding in Nordegg and started fighting with attendees of the wedding. They fled in a white Ford pickup truck after one of the assailants was knocked out.
September 20
8:31 A.M. – B&E reported to a quonset in Caroline. A licence plate was stolen off a vehicle.
2:08 P.M. – After receiving a tip, Rocky RCMP stopped a suspicious vehicle and arrested the adult male driver and female passenger who were in possession of 54 grams of cocaine, 21 grams of methamphetamine, cell phones, scales, baggies, and a large amount of cash. Shane Alexander BLAIR (20 years old) and Xandra BARNES (22 years old) have been charged with two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. BLAIR also has been charged for failing to comply with a Release Order he entered into on September 13, 2021 after another previous incident. After a Judicial Interim Release hearing, BLAIR was remanded into custody while BARNES was released on a $1,000 Promise to Pay.
3:27 P.M. – Attempted theft from a RMH department store. Suspect dropped items by fence so he could come back at a later time to retrieve them, however, his plan was foiled by an astute employee. The suspect fled in an older silver four door Ford car. Under investigation.
9:45 P.M. – Report of an assault at a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Suspect left prior to police attendance. Under investigation.
10:16 P.M. – Police located a stolen 1975 GMC pickup truck from Innisfail after it was found abandoned on Range Road 4-1, Clearwater County.
September 21
4:00 P.M. – Theft of a black 2016 POLARIS quad from a random camping area, west of Caroline.
September 22
8:38 A.M. – Report of an erratic driver on Hwy #11 & Range Road 4-4, Clearwater County. The DODGE pickup went across the opposing lane, into the ditch, and sideswiped a power pole. The driver, who was believed to be impaired, fled the scene. The truck had been stolen from Innisfail overnight.
12:00 P.M. – Theft of a maroon 2004 DODGE pickup truck stolen from a RMH school. Suspect last seen fleeing west on Highway #11 after reports of it driving erratically. It was recovered in Red Deer, later that evening.
12:02 P.M. – Report of a B&E to a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Under investigation.
2:13 P.M. – Theft of a catalytic converter from a Subaru Crosstrek while parked at the Cline River, west of Nordegg.
4:23 P.M. – 911 call of an aggravated assault which occurred on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two suspect adult males were arrested. Charges pending.
10:46 P.M. – Call of a possible intoxicated driver swerving all over the road and driving at excessive speeds in RMH. Police stopped the vehicle and determined that the GDL driver was smoking marijuana. Provincial sanctions were issued.
September 23
10:25 A.M. – Theft of copper cable stolen from a Telus mobility site in Clearwater County.
2:00 P.M. – Theft of a silver 2012 POLARIS Ranger overnight from a residence in the Ferrier area of Clearwater County.
8:11 P.M. – Theft of a RV sometime over that last week from a camping area, west of Caroline.
