The Rocky Rams suffered back to back road losses over the weekend, and are now on a four game losing streak.
On Friday, the Rams travelled to Airdrie for a game against the Techmation Thunder.
Kyle Goodrunning opened the scoring for the Rams at 5:12 of the first period, with the lone assist coming from Cale Stecyk to make it 1-0 Rocky. This would be the Rams only goal in the frame and would also be the only lead the Rams would have. The Thunder would then pour it on, scoring three goals, the third one being shorthanded to give the Thunder a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes.
The Thunder would keep their foot on the gas and would get two more goals in the second period from Tyler Broesky and Jeremy Jobin, giving them a 5-1 lead. The Rams would find the back of the net again though, with Jake Smith scoring his first of the season, assisted by Nick Jervis and Tristan Hoffus, making the score 5-2.
Cale Stecyk of the Rams would open the scoring in the final period, with an assist from Nick Jervis, to make it 5-3. However, that’s as close as the Rams would get the rest of the way, as Jeremy Jobin would complete his hat trick in the third period, adding on two more goals for the Thunder to make it 7-3. Jack Turton, then Jacob Cathcart, on the power play, would also add goals for the Thunder as they would skate away with a 9-3 victory.
The Rams would outshoot the Thunder 38-37 but managed to go 0/6 on the power play while also giving up a shorthanded goal.

On Saturday, the Rams packed their bags and headed to Okotoks for a game with the Carstar Bisons.
The Bisons opened the scoring at 6:44 of the first period when Adam Kirkpatrick found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead for Okotoks, with the assist coming from Jaevon Buschlen. The Bisons would then take a 2-0 lead just past the halfway point in the period after a Kaleb Schuller goal, with Jake Snashall and AJ Belanger getting the assists.
The second period saw 9 shots from the Rams and 15 from the Bisons, but both goalies stood their ground, not allowing a goal in the second period.
The third period opened up with Kaleb Schuller scoring his second goal of the game and eighth of the season to give the Bisons a 3-0 lead. The Rams would finally break Okotoks goalie Dylan Fries, after a Tristan Hoffus power play goal, with assists coming off the sticks of Quinn Tomalty and Kyle Humphrey to make it 3-1. Shortly after, the Rams would make it 3-2 after Caleb Andrew scored his first of the season with Tristan Hoffus and Nick Jervis gathering the assists. The Rams kept on pushing for a game tying goal but would ultimately end up giving up an empty net goal and the Bisons would hold on to a 4-2 win.
The Rams now have a record of 7-16-3, which has them sitting in fifth place in the Heritage Junior Hockey League’s Northern Division.
The Rams are back in action on Friday, December 30, when the Sylvan Lake Wranglers come to town.
