A number of central Alberta communities have seen some record low temperatures this week.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, the Rocky Mountain House area set a new record low for Dec. 20, dropping to -41.8 degrees Celsius and beating the old record of -41.1 degrees Celsius set in 1921. Records in this area have been kept since 1915.
The Sundre area also set a record low of -43.0 degrees Celsius for Dec. 20, beating the old record of -39.0 degrees Celsius set in 2008. Records in this area have been kept since 1993.
During this cold weather, Environment Canada is encouraging you to limit your time spent outside, as it only takes minutes to develop frostbite in these conditions.
