The Rocky Rams were back in action over the weekend with a road game.
On Friday the Rams travelled to Airdrie for a date against the Techmation Thunder.
In the first period it was the Rams striking first at 8:25 after a Cale Stecyk goal, assisted by Tristan Hoffus. Later in the period the Rams would go on the powerplay but the Thunder were able to kill the penalty. Despite being outshot in the first 20 minutes 17-5 the Rams would end the period with a 1-0 lead.
The second frame saw Thunder forward Aidan Moore score just 53 seconds in, with Jared Miller getting the assist on the tying goal. Shortly after the Thunder would get their first lead of the game after Jeremy Jobin found Reed Chalmers for his sixth goal of the year. However, the lead was short lived because four minutes later Caleb Andrew of the Rams would tie the game 2-2. Kyle Goodrunning was credited with the assist. Just past the halfway mark, Rams captain Nick Jervis scored his 16th goal of the year to give the Rams a 3-2 lead, which would also end up being his 100th career point in the Heritage Junior Hockey League.
The third period saw the Thunder outshoot the Rams 14-4 and all their shots would pay off after Jeremy Jobin found the back of the net to tie the game 3-3 at 16:37. Kyle Shoemaker would get the assist and the game would head into overtime.
Overtime did not take long to find a hero because just 47 seconds into the period, Thunder forward Jacob Cathcart would end the game and push the Thunder to a 4-3 victory.
Despite losing, Rams goalie Zaiden Hanson had a good game between the pipes stopping 46 of 50 shots.
The Rams are back in action on Friday when they head to Sylvan Lake for a game against the Wrangles. Puck drop is at 8:00 p.m. at the NexSource Centre.
