Rocky Mountain House RCMP held an initiative this month in search of offenders with outstanding warrants.
On Feb. 6, 2023, Rocky Mountain House RCMP began targeting offenders in the surrounding area with outstanding warrants. RCMP say, the initiative ran from Feb.6 to Feb. 10 and utilized resources from Alberta RCMP’s Air Services, Police Dog Services, Emergency Response Team, Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, Traffic Services, as well as analysts and administrative support personnel.
Mounties add, the most serious of the warrants executed included kidnapping, sexual assaults, aggravated assaults, and robbery.
Officials say in one case, the RCMP arrested 35-year-old O’Chiese First Nation resident Ashlee Lance Gladeau. Gladeau had outstanding warrants from a Sept. 1, 2022 incident where he is accused of shooting the victim. As a result of that investigation, Gladeau was charged with:
• Aggravated assault
• Failing to comply with release conditions.
On Feb. 7, 2023, officers of the round up initiative located Gladeau seated in the back seat of a vehicle with a small child. Police note, after providing a false name, Gladeau was arrested. At the time of arrest, it’s alleged Gladeau had a can of dog deterrent spray in his hand. Additionally, Mounties say a search of Gladeau found him to be in possession of a small quantity of methamphetamine and fentanyl. Gladeau was additionally charged with:
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Obstruction
• Possession of a controlled substance (x2)
Gladue was taken before a Justice of the Peace on all charges and released from custody on no cash bail. His next court appearance is set for Feb. 22, 2023 at Rocky Mountain House provincial court.
In total, officers arrested 40 individuals executing 78 outstanding warrants. In the process of locating individuals, officers recovered a stolen vehicle, seized a firearm and various types of illegal drugs. A total of 10 new charges were said to be laid against offenders for various offences.
“A ‘warrant round-up’ is an effective way for police to bring in additional resources to efficiently and safely locate and apprehend individuals,” said Staff Sergeant Carl Dinsdale, Detachment Commander of the Rocky Mountain House RCMP. “We are pleased with the results of this initiative which took a lot of planning and organization to bring together.”
