The Town of Rocky Mountain House has seen an increase in wastewater blockages over the past six months.
Officials say, particularly in the Creekside and Old Town neighborhoods. Town officials note, Engineering & Operations staff will be delivering notices to residents in those areas.
Town officials say the most common culprit are wipes and wipes of ANY kind should NEVER be flushed, no matter what the package says.
Tis includes disinfecting, baby, facial and even “flushable” wipes. The Town says these items cause sewer and pump blockages resulting in backups that can be expensive for homeowners and the Town.
- Wipes of ANY kind, no matter what the package says:
- Baby wipes
- Cleaning wipes
- Personal wipes
- Makeup remover wipes
- Paper products other than toilet paper:
- Tissues
- Paper towels
- Paper napkins
- Personal hygiene products:
- Adult and infant diapers
- Sanitary pads and tampons
- Bandages, wound dressings or wrappings
- Cleaning items:
- Rags
- Disposable mops
- Dust cloths
Products that can clog the wastewater system, cause a sewer backup or damage the wastewater treatment process should never be flushed or drained.
