The Town of Rocky Mountain House Engineering and Operations Department will be performing water main flushing beginning next week.
The Town notes this is an important part of its infrastructure maintenance program.
Officials say the work involves opening and closing of main water valves and flushing water through hydrants. Work on the valves will be performed between 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on weekdays only, starting July 11.
The town asks all residents to drive with caution when passing workers.
According to the Town, this flushing routinely disturbs water in the main line. As a result, residents may experience rust-coloured or cloudy water. However, this is normal and temporary. Officials say all you have to do is run your tap until the water runs clear and cold, which may take 20 minutes.
If cloudy or discoloured conditions persist or if residents need further information, contact Engineering and Operations at 403-845-3220.
Hydrant flushing will continue through July and August. Expect crews and water around hydrants.
