Alberta Wildfire say the wildfire danger in the Rocky Mountain House area is now low.
However, officials note there still remains wildfires in the area.
Active wildfires in the area include:
- EWF031 which was detected on May 4 and is located 18 km west of Lodgepole, 5 km northwest of Brazeau Dam and 1.5 km south of Edson. The fire is classified as being held and is 201,913 ha in size.
- EWF039 is classified as under control and is 165 ha in size.
- RWF034 is located near the O’Chiese Reserve and classified as under control. The fire is currently estimated at 87,492 ha in size.
- RWF040 is classified as under control and is 5,089 ha in size.
- There are firefighters, helicopters and heavy equipment working on this complex.
Officials remind you to never leave your campfire unattended and ensure it is properly extinguished when you are done with it. Soak it, stir it and soak it again until the ashes are cool to the touch, and if you see smoke in the area to report it to 310-FIRE (3473).
