A new 4-way stop will be installed at the intersection of 50 Avenue and 50 Street by the town office in Rocky Mountain House.
Town officials say, this comes after years of complaints and witnessing speeding through the intersection which is adjacent to the Kinsmen Playground.
Officials add, this is a high-traffic area for both pedestrians and vehicles accessing a busy area serving the town office, Pioneer Centre, playground, library, Next to New, the Lord’s Food Bank and Âsokêwin Friendship Centre, as well as private business.
This is said to be part of a traffic calming measure to reduce speeding and make motorists more aware of their surroundings.
Stop signs will be installed for east and westbound traffic on August 22.
Warning signs and temporary stop signs in the middle of the intersection will be in place for two months to alert drivers to the new 4-way stop.
