One person is dead and one other suffered serious injuries after a collision on Highway 11 near Rocky Mountain House Tuesday night.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP were on scene of the collision on Highway 11 at the intersection with Range Road 61 between a pickup truck and semi tractor-trailer.

Traffic was re-routed for several hours as the investigation took place.

According to RCMP, the collision occurred at approximately 7:05 p.m. on Sept. 19, 2023. The driver of the pick-up truck, a 22-year-old male resident of Red Deer was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 21-year-old female passenger in the pick-up also sustained serious injuries. The driver of the semi-trailer unit was not seriously injured.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP are continuing to investigate the cause of the collision. Traffic has resumed in the area.
