The Rocky Rams split their games over the weekend.
On Friday, the Ponoka Stampeders came into Rocky looking for their first win of the season.
In the first period the Rams would strike first just 14 seconds in after a Tyler Gyori goal. Reid Christiansen and Joshua Adeleke earned the assists. Also in the first period the Rams would outshoot the Stampeders 14-6.
In the second period, Rams forward Tyler Gyori would score his second goal of the game, and of the season, at 7:35 to give the Rams a 2-0 lead, Reid Christiansen and Jake Smith earned the assists. The Rams would then push their lead to 3-0 after Jake Smith found the back of the net for his 10th goal of the season. Reid Christiansen and Tyler Gyori were credited with the assists. The Rams would then score a late period goal at 17:38 to give them a 4-0 lead, and it would also be Tyler Gyori’s third goal of the game to complete the hat-trick. Reid Christiansen and Jake Smith got credit for the assists. In the second period the Rams got outshoot 5-3.
In the final frame, Tyler Gyori’s great game continued as he would get his fourth goal of the game at 6:37 to give the Rams a 5-0 lead. Quinn Tomalty earned the lone assist. At 12:13 the Rams would improve their lead to 6-0 after Tristan Hoffus scored his fifth goal of the year, with Kyle Goodrunning and Grady Mofford earning the assists.
The Rams would hold onto the victory 6-0, and would outshoot the Stampeders 38-19.
Rams goalie Zaiden Hansen would earn his second shutout of the season.

On Saturday the Rams would travel to High River for a date against the Brewing Co. Flyers.
In the first period the Flyers would get on the board at 10:25 on the powerplay after a Connor Smith goal. Connor Frost and Easton Weasel Head earned the assists. The Flyers would then score a late period goal at 19:51, also on the powerplay. Easton Weasel Head would get credit for his 10th goal of the year, with the assists coming from the sticks of Ethan Burgeson and Alex McIsaac. Throughout the first period the Rams would tie the Flyers in shots, 13-13.
In the second period the Rams would give up an early goal at 1:19 and would fall behind 3-0 after Jager Marshall found the back of the net, with Connor Smith and Connor Frost earning the assists. The Flyers would continue the pressure and would take a 4-0 lead after an Ethan Burgeson goal. Easton Weasel Head and Griffin Amyotte earned the assists. The Rams struggles on the powerplay continued this game as they would go 0/6 on the powerplay during the second period. The Rams would also get outshot 16-14.
In the final period, it was the Flyers who would open the scoring after Brendan McKague would get his first goal of the year, with Ethan Cox and Tanner Willford earning the assists. At 8:05 the Rams would give up another goal to Jager Marshall for his second of the game, with Connor Frost and Taylor Madsen assisting on the play. It would also be the Flyers final goal of the game giving them a 6-0 victory. In the final frame the Rams would get outshot 21-7.
The Rams would also finish the game 0/9 on the powerplay and would be outshot 50-34. Flyers goalie Kashton Payne would get credit for the shutout.
After the weekend the Rams have a record of 5-4-1 which is good enough for second place in the HJHL’s Northern Division.
The Rams are back in action on Oct. 27 when they travel to Airdrie to play the Techmation Thunder. Puck drop is at 8:00 p.m. at the Ron Ebbesen Arena.
