The Rocky Rams were back in action over the weekend, which saw them lose back-to-back games.
On Friday, the Rams travelled to Didsbury for a date with the Mountainview Colts.
In the first period, the Colts would open the scoring at 4:39 after Haiden Parks would net his 10th goal of the year. The lone assist came from the stick of Aidan Saunders. The Rams would tie the game 1-1 at 13:16 after a Reid Christiansen goal. Jake Smith earned the lone assist. However, the tie was short lived as the Colts would take a 2-1 lead just over four minutes later after a Cohen Richardson goal. Aidan Saunders would pick up his second assist of the game. Throughout the first period the Colts would outshoot the Rams 20-13.
In the second period, Rams forward Tristan Hoffus would tie the game 2-2 after he scored his eighth goal of the year. Quinn Tomalty earned the assist. The Rams would then claim a 3-2 lead at 13:11 after Owen Green found the back of the net. Grady Mofford and Eric Layden picked up the assists. However, at 15:54, the Colts would tie the game 3-3 after a unassisted powerplay goal from Haiden Parks, which would be his second goal of the game. Shots in the second period were even with each team getting 11.
In the final period, Jake Smith of the Rams would get his 14th goal of the season at 1:16 to give the Rams a 4-3 lead. Reid Christiansen picked up the only assist. Then at 7:12, Trenton Hirsche of the Colts would tie the game 4-4 after an unassisted goal. Just over two minutes after the Colts tied the game, they would take a 5-4 lead at 9:45, as James Bartlett would get credit for his first goal of the year. The Rams kept pushing and it would pay off as Reid Christiansen would sneak one by the goalie at 18:46 to tie the game 5-5. The Rams would also outshoot the Colts in the final period 11-7.
In overtime, the Rams would only manage to get two shots, while the Colts only managed one. The final shot count was 39-37 in favour of the Colts. Overtime would also solve nothing sending the game to a shootout.
In the shootout, the Rams would send up Tristan Hoffus first, who would not score. The Colts would then send up Haiden Parks who already had two goals in the game, and he would get one by the Rams goalie. Parks goal would be the only goal of the shootout and it would push the Colts to a 5-4 victory.

On Saturday, the Rams were back at home to take on the Sylvan Lake Wranglers.
In the first period, the Wranglers would draw first blood at 14:35 after a Maddex Bignell goal. Hayden Motowylo and Justin Gyori earned the assists. Just as the period was about to wrap up, Rams forward Kyle Goodrunning would score his fifth goal of year to tie the game 1-1. The Rams would also get outshoot 24-9 in the first 20 minutes.
In the second period, the Rams would get outshot 14-6. The Rams would also give up the only goal of the period at 17:11 after a Brody Pearson goal.
In the final frame, the Wranglers would open up the scoring after Maddex Bignell would score his second goal of the game, making it 3-1. The assists came off the sticks of Bret Gerrits and Owen Callow. The Wranglers kept pushing and at 10:04 would improve their lead to 4-1 after Reed Sparrow picked up his 11th goal of the season. Nolan Holub Aydden Shaw earned the assists. Then, the Wranglers would score another goal 22 seconds later to make it 5-1. Aydden Shaw would get credit for his fourth goal of the year. The Rams would finally find the back of the net at 11:45 to make it a 5-2 game. Tristan Hoffus would get credit for the goal. Jake Smith and Kyle Humphrey picked up the assists. The Wranglers would keep pressing the Rams and would add two more goals, one from Hayden Motowylo and the other from Austin Corsiatto. The final score was 7-2 for the Wranglers. The Wranglers would also more than double the Rams in shots, 61-22.
The Rams are back in action on Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, when they will have a rematch against the Colts. Puck drop is at 8:30 p.m. at the Rocky Arena.
After the weekend, the Rams still sit in second place in the Northern Division with a record of 7-7-2.
