“We love great coffee and teas, and we really love people.”
What a great recipe for business success! Since opening the unique drive-through-only coffee hut in Rocky Mountain House, Wendy Carnahan and her brew crew at Rocky Mountain Mudd have received plenty of positive feedback.
Wendy and her husband, Kelly, opened Rocky Mountain Mudd in April about four and a half years ago, following a move from small-town Wyoming. The American town of ten thousand featured four small drive-through-only coffee huts.
“We thought there was no reason that this (business) model couldn’t work up here,” says Wendy. “It’s nice to be able to get a quality, handcrafted coffee without getting out of your car when you’re in a hurry or when it’s 30 below!” The response has been tremendous, so obviously, coffee drinkers in Rocky Mountain House wholeheartedly agree.
“Rocky Mountain House has been incredible in supporting our business,” says Wendy. “And we enjoy giving back when we can!”
Wendy notes that people have needed support and encouragement over the past two years, and Rocky Mountain Mudd feels blessed when they get to have a hand in offering that support.
Rocky Mountain Mudd has shown its commitment to the community in numerous ways, including donating gift baskets to be auctioned off to raise money for the Central Alberta Pregnancy Care Centre, along with supporting many other local fundraisers.
“We’ve donated gift cards for auctions raising money for the school band, partnered with other local groups to give gift cards to local teachers and frontline workers. We also helped purchase new hockey jerseys for a men’s recreation team.” And that’s only a partial list of donations.
As a business, Rocky Mountain Mudd is committed to making a great, consistent cup of coffee and serving it up with superb customer service.
“Our crew enjoys making our customers a great cup of coffee,” says Wendy, “but we (also) love building relationships with and encouraging our customers.”
It’s a privilege not just to serve coffee, notes Wendy, but to get to be a part of each customer’s life.
Committed to the community – proud to be part of the local business landscape. That’s Rocky Mountain Mudd – your gourmet coffee shop in Rocky Mountain House. A local business that’s making a difference.
