The Wild Rose School Division (WRSD) provided their Annual Education Results Report for the 2022-23 school year.
WRSD officials say this report provides demographic information for the Division as well as an analysis of the major outcomes, strategies, and results from the 2022-23 school year. This analysis is focused on the following four domains:
Student Growth & Achievement: Results and analysis of provincial exams, high school completion, citizenship, student engagement, literacy and numeracy.
Teaching & Leading: Results and analysis of education quality, staff learning, staff well-being and Indigenous education.
Learning Supports: Results and analysis of welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environments, as well as access to appropriate supports and services, particularly for students with exceptional needs.
Governance: Results and analysis of parental involvement, as well as the school board’s engagement with provincial, municipal, employee, and community partners.
According to the WRSD, there were also a few big changes in 2022-23 that the Division is especially excited to share. Officials note, this school year marked the start of a new initiative to increase Indigenous education to students and staff in all schools. This included the provision of two Indigenous Education Specialists and Elder support for all WRSD schools.
Officials say, the 2022-23 school year also included an increased focus on the provision of mental health supports for WRSD students that included the hiring of additional mental health coaches and therapists. The WRSD also opened two new schools in 2022-23: Charlotte Small Elementary School in Condor and David Thompson High School in Leslieville.
Lastly, this report provides financial information for the 2022-23 school year, comparing budget to actual expenses and audited financial statements.
