A trial has been scheduled for one of three people initially charged in a traffic stop on the O’Chiese First Nation that police say turned up drugs, cash, cell phones and a loaded gun.
Kyle Alexander Goodrich, 34, a resident of the O’Chiese First Nation, is scheduled for trial in Rocky Mountain House Court of Justice from June 21-25, 2024.
Co-accused, Paula Nicole Beaverbone, 35, a resident of the O’Chiese First Nation, was previously scheduled for trial in Rocky Mountain House Court of Justice on Dec. 11, 2023, but her charges were withdrawn on Oct. 18, 2023.
While a stay of proceedings took place on Sept. 27, 2023, for a second co-accused, Petrina Redcalf, 32, a resident of the Sunchild First Nation.
It was on Jan. 4, 2023, when Rocky Mountain House RCMP say officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic offence where they recognized the passenger as Kyle Goodrich who was wanted on a Canada wide warrant.
Upon further investigation, Mounties say they located drug paraphernalia and a bag containing a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine. All three occupants were arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Police say the vehicle was seized and a search warrant obtained. As a result of the investigation, RCMP seized:
- Approximately 361.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine
- A loaded handgun
- $800 in Canadian currency
- Several cellphones
Kyle Goodrich was charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Trafficking in property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Careless used of a firearm
- Unsafe storage of a firearm
- Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized
- Possession of a weapon in motor vehicle
- Possession of a weapon obtained by crime
- Possession of weapon contrary to order
