With wildfire season starting 10 days early this year, fire permits are required for the Rocky Mountain House Forest Protection Area (FPA).
Clearwater County officials say:
- If you’re planning to burn, watch the weather and notify the County at www.clearwatercounty.ca/burnnotifications or 403-845-7711.
- Fire permits are needed for burning in Alberta’s FPA, except for campfires: wildfire.alberta.ca/firepermits.
Not sure if you’re in the FPA? Check our burn notifications and permits webpage for maps.
Remember, FPA burning requires a permit.
- Let’s prevent human-caused fires – they made up over 60 per cent of Alberta’s wildfires in 2023.
- Approximately 85 per cent of Clearwater County falls within the FPA.
