Residents for the Town of Rocky Mountain House will hit the polls for the municipal by-election today (Feb. 26).

The by-election is to replace former councillor Shane Boniface who resigned on Nov. 7, 2023.

The polls opened at 10:00 a.m. and will run until 8:00 p.m. on Feb. 26, down in the Subway Room at the Rocky Regional Recreation Centre.

The list of candidates include:

• Sarah Fotty
• Stella Herron
• Anna-Marie Loomis
• Ken Moesker
• Glen Waskewitch

Town officials want residents to come prepared. All voters must show ID and proof of a Rocky Mountain House street address, as well as an authorized voter identification that states your name and address, such as one of the following documents:

• Government photo ID showing name and current address.
• Bank or credit card statement or personal cheque.
• Government cheque or cheque stub.
• Income or property/tax assessment notice.
• Insurance policy or coverage aid.
• Residential lease or mortgage statement.
• Utility bill (power, internet, gas or water bill)
• Vehicle ownership, registration or insurance certificate.
