During last week’s meeting, Rocky Mountain House town council have voted to continue to lobby Canada Post for improved service in town limits.
Rocky Mountain House town councilor Dale Shippelt says council is trying to get improved service for businesses east of Highway 11. “There’s just no mail delivery (to the) industrial area east of highway 11. [We’re] trying to get service for everyone in Rocky Mountain House.”
Shippelt also says currently businesses in the area have to travel to the post office to collect their mail. “We have two areas of town that have no postal service. There’s also an area around the old post office where the town office is at. There’s a radius there of about a block and a half where residents don’t get any super box service.”
Shippelt notes they have been trying a number of different strategies to improve service. “We’ve contacted Canada Post as well as our MP to get postal service on the east side of highway 11.”
Requests to have a Canada Post representative appear before council have so far been unsuccessful.
