Now in its ninth decade, the upcoming Caroline Bighorn Stampede is accepting local entries to compete May 17, 18 & 19.
Entries are now being accepted for events such as girls’ barrels (15 and under as of Jan. 1, 2024), bareback & packhorse race team.
Rodeo Secretary for the Bighorn Stampede Committee, Betty Burwash, says those who don’t have a Foothills Cowboy Association (FCA) card can still enter.
“Entry is open to all the regular events like ladies barrel racing and steer wrestling,” says Burwash. “As well, Caroline has three very local events — our local ladies barrel race, our local bareback and our packhorse race.”
Those interested in entering the rodeo can call 403-369-7759.
Entries are open until Monday, May 6 at 1 p.m.
According to president of the Ricinus Wooler Community Association, Terry Pengelly, along with added prize money for this year’s rodeo, there will be a special dinner to help celebrate the rodeo’s 90th anniversary.
“We’re going to put on a beef on a bun supper to thank all of our sponsors,” says Pengelly. “It’s also open to the public for $20 a ticket.”
Pengelly says pre-sale tickets for the beef on a bun are available until May 15, and anyone interested can email bighornstampede@gmail.com
