Following two rounds of eliminations in April, the final five acts are set to take the stage at the finals of the Rocky Youth Talent Contest presented by the Lions Club of Rocky Mountain House.
Organizer Denise Hills says musical acts have prevailed to the end.
“We have a lot of singing and guitar playing,” says Hills. “But we have one participant who does freestyle rapping.”
Cash prizes include $750 for first place, $350 for runner-up, and $250 for third.
Hills adds that audience members are invited to show up hungry as there will be refreshments including beverages and pub style food from Wings ‘n Things.
Hills also says proceeds from the event go back into the community.
“We have our silent auction that we will close that night,” adds Hills. “We’re also doing a draw for gift certificates to some local companies like the Burly Beard.”
The finals happen on Thursday, May 2 at the the Rocky Legion on 49 Street. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
There is a $5 cover charge.
