Existing members and potential future members are all invited to attend the Rocky Chamber’s upcoming Annual General Meeting.
Executive director for the Rocky Chamber, Michelle Meatheringham describes it as a free “come and see” event for any local business owners who are considering being part of the Chamber.
According to Meatheringham, benefits include:
- Networking Opportunities
- Marketing & Visibility
- Credibility & Trust
- Advocacy & Influence
- Business Support and Savings
The event will also include more typical AGM activities, say organizers, such as reviewing financials and electing the Chamber board of directors for the 2024/2025 year which begins July 1.
The event will also see a presentation from Battle of the Rockies who will present details on their event and the economic impact it brings to our community each year.
Known colloquially to fans as Battle of The Rockies, the event is officially the World Professional Chuckwagon Association’s (WPCA) Pro Tour stop in Rocky Mountain House every August. This year’s event takes place Aug. 15-18 at North Saskatchewan River Park.
Meatheringham says the organization moved the Battle of the Rockies presentation to the June AGM from a previously postponed date in order to grow a larger engagement to learn about the benefits of the event.
The Chamber’s tourism committee, Discover Rocky in David Thompson is going to give an update on its work, say officials.
Chair of Discover Rocky, Matt Lambert says the organization’s aim is to bolster the region’s tourism industry.
“The organization goes to promote tourism in Rocky Mountain House and around us,” says Lambert. “We work directly with the tourist industry and the different businesses in Rocky to help them promote and create a stronger group.”
Additionally, organizers say there will be brews and appetizers as Baker Tilly is sponsoring the event.
The meeting goes Thursday June 20, at 5:30 p.m. at Rival Trade Brewing in Rocky Mountain House.
