The Province of Alberta has released new economic indicators for July 2024.

According to Statistics Canada and other Alberta government sources:

• There were nearly 4,600 business incorporations in Alberta, meaning businesses that are headquartered in the province. A 12.1 per cent year-over-year increase.
• Data shows there were over 121,190 businesses in Alberta- a 1.2 per cent year-over-year increase.
• Alberta’s population is well over 4.8 million, a 4.4 per cent year-over-year increase.
• Over $76 Billion of goods have been exported so far in 2024- a 5 per cent year-over-year increase.
• Over 2.5 Million people are employed in the province.
• The unemployment rate was 6.7 per cent.
• July 2024 saw 142 active drilling rigs working in the province.

The Province says the data comes from two weekly publications: Alberta Economy: Indicators at a Glance and the Weekly Economic Review.
