Construction work to repair rough roads east of Hwy. 11 in Rocky Mountain House is off and running.
Town officials say asphalt remediation is planned for 47 Ave. up to 43 St., as well as intersections along 43 St. at 49 Ave. and 52 Ave.
Road work is going smoothly so far, says Tiffany Robinson, communications officer for the Town of Rocky Mountain House.
“It’s going really well. They’re saying its ahead of schedule and barring any issues, the project will be done by the end of next week,” says Robinson.
Robinson adds that all roadways are open during construction, as the project is able to accommodate all traffic.
Additionally, officials say businesses may have limited access, rear access only, or access from only one direction.
Mayor Debbie Baich noted that 43 St. in particular carries much heavy traffic daily from the nearby Clearwater County office, Wild Rose School Division bus barns, as well as countless large trucks from industrial businesses in the area.
Rocky Mountain House town council jumped at a chance to use some reserve funds, as well as available provincial grant money to expedite the work that otherwise may have needed to wait for a future budget cycle.
On July 16, 2024, council approved the $375,800 Industrial Park Upgrade initiative with funds being allocated from grants and municipal road reserves.
- $244,000 from the Government of Alberta’s Municipal Sustainability Initiative (MSI)
- $119,000 from the Government of Alberta’s Local Government Fiscal Framework (LGFF)
- $62,800 from Town of Rocky Mountain House road reserves
